Car Trouble, need some experts.

Well today was pretty much the first tune up day for my car since i bought it 2 weeks ago.

Ive been having a weird issue with the car, well two actually and i need some help.

Problem #1

Sometimes when my car is idling it decides to just turn off..although rare it happens more often if my AC is on. But now it also happens when its just idling.

So today i went and purchased new spark plugs, new AIC sensor, did an oil change, changed the belt, new fuel filter, and the issue still persists.

What can i troubleshoot this with? I thought the AIC was responsible but apparently not, nor the fuel filter. Am i looking at a bad fuel pump now?

If i give the car enough gas when its about to drop all the way and turn off, it will stay on, i know its not a big problem doing that but it is very annoying..It also tends to turn off a lot more in reverse and or when i have the AC On

Problem #2
The car seems to have trouble catching the parking gear. I set it to park and sometimes it just wont clip?

I tried lubing the shift cable under the car but it still persists :[ What can i do for that also? I have been using the hand break pretty much every time i park since i dont want it taking off without me -.-

-----
Im also looking for information on doing a radiator flush, if any of you guys could give me any details on the process id appreciate it.

I really want to get this car in top shape, and i think ive done more in 2 weeks than the owner has in the last 3 years.
Im hoping somebody leaves me a reply to this post by the time i wake up tomorrow so i can start troubleshooting.

Thanks for the help guys much appreciated.

Re: Car Trouble, need some experts.

i use prestone flush from anywhere autozone or walmart you have to use 2 bottles there like 3 bucks each at walmart just do what the sirections say as far as your car problem do you have tbi or tpi 305 or 350 if its the tbi get new plugs wires cap rotor coil i use accel and as far as plugs go with boush plateiums there the best ones for your car im tryed everything ac delco sucks autolights sucks to. If you have tbi put a can of sea foam in a vacuum line on your tbi it will smoke a lot but it cleans the top of your motor then put a can in your gas tank to that should fix your problem now for your tranny problem take that to the shop it see like its your shifter linkage

Re: Car Trouble, need some experts.

Couple of things we need to know before we can help you dig into the problem. What motor/intake setup do you have in the car?

The second issue can be a couple of things. One it could be the cable that goes from the shifter to the tranny linkage, seem one that the outer casing was cracked and the wire inside would come out and not let it shift into park. Could be that the linkage needs to be adjusted so that it locks in park. Now the more serious issue is that that Parking pin is worn/broken but it is very rare unless someone tried to park the thing while cruising. Check the linkage first and then work your way up.
