header question
Ok, so I am about to buy some shorty's for my 91 350 TPI. Two questions. Concerning y-pipe. I have the factory dual cat y pipe. Of course, I am trying to do this the cheapest way possible. For whatever header I choose, Should I just try and reuse my factory y-pipe? Like I said , I am thinking what would be cheaper. I was thinking about re-using the factory ypipe by cutting it close to the connection to the exhaust manifolds. Then having a muffler shop weld it together to the new headers. Looks like no matter what brand of header I choose, some fabrication is needed anyway. I would like to find a deal with the y-pipe included, but that is proving to be tough under $150 even used! Also, should I choose a header that has air provisions? or try to keep within budget and say the hell with air?

Re: header question
you are right about it being tough to find something for 150 or so. I have the same dual cat set up on my car and I went with Edelbrock headers (T.E.S.) bought them for the emissions hook ups. They come with two short extensions and instructions on where to cut your factory Y pipe. Pricey though, so might not be an option for you. You can get a look at the instructions for these on Jegs.com
