Working on an engine build for a 1985 camaro. It is a 350 with vortec heads. I wam trying to find a cam to get the most out of it. I am still in the early stage and dont have any of the top end parts, so if you have a good set up I would like to heard that too. But I am hoping to use vortec heads.

 

ported or stock heads. im doing a 355 vortec 35o engine and i am going to use stage one ported vortec heads. the cam told to me was the hot cam. 218-220-492-492 with 1.5 on the intake and 1.6 on the exhaust.

one92rs typoed that. it's a 218/228, but with 1.5/1.6, it effectively works as a 218/230.
But choosing a cam has to work with your entire car combination, or you'll find disappointment and maybe frustration. Speccing the best cam for the heads is easy, but only if you're willing to choose everything else to match, including gearing.
What are your goals? How will you use the car? Are you willing to build around the cam?
