GTA 305 mods

Ok I have a 88 GTA with a 305 and I know everyone says get the 350 but im sticking with my 305. These are the mods I want to put on it any input would be great.

Mass air flow sensor
Holley 58mm TB
AirRaid TB spacer
Port out the plenum
edelbrock intake manifold and runners
TF 24lb injectors
Hooker 2055 headers and Y pipe
Flowmaster cat back
under drive pulleys
Motorvastion custom chip
TFs 23 175 heads made for the 305
and a 292/296 .532/.540 TF cam
And a 2400-2800 stall tc

Not sure if this will all work together but it looks good on paper when you do the numbers. Any help would be great

Re: GTA 305 mods

That cam has way to much duration if you ask me. 270-280 is about as high as you want to go on a 305 (that's kinda pushing it too), you'll be spinning to 6500+ to make use of even that. The stock bottom end in that 305 is NOT going to like seeing 6500 rpm often if at all so keep that in mind. I don't even know where 296 degrees would put the power band in a 305, I would guess 5500-8000 rpm though.

Everything will depend on the tune in the end so don't skimp out there or you're wasting your money. By "custom chip" is it some mail order crap or a dyno tune?

Re: GTA 305 mods

52mm TB would be better. Way too much cam, by far. The absolute maximum cam you should even consider is this: http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/Ca...?csid=208&sb=0

Re: GTA 305 mods

Thanks Doom, but I wasn't saying I liked that one either. But the cam on the OP was far more wild. Benny, the 2 you now list are both rather mild. If I was suggesting something, I'd go with a COMP 212/218-110, 488/510, and run it with 1.5:1 rockers. Why? Because it's a surprisingly good match to the long tubes of the TPI system.
