GM "ZZ4" Gen I Engine Cast # 10243880
I have a chance to pick one of these up for $500 for just the block and heads.
Guy claims it's only got 40k miles on it and he's switching for an aluminum block.
It's from 98 he claims, it's a 2-bolt main.
I have the pulleys and headers and my intake. It being a Gen I I would imagine it should still work?
What do you guys think?

NO real ZZX, ZZ3 or ZZ4s were built with 2-bolt mains. The price is quasi-fair anyway. Your stuff should bolt up just fine.

Just remember that the ZZ4 heads aren't magic power. There's a LOT of potential with porting, and the I/E ratio is real good (exhaust flows great). ...but overall flow outta the box is really nothing special. Basically stock Iron L98 heads with the weight savings of aluminum. That being said, $500 for a set of those heads is not bad. I'd probably buy 'em at that cost. Plus, you get the block too.
...really depends on what you're looking for...
