Hi, i noticed my starter was dragging a bit so i took it off and rebuilt it and put a new starter sylinoid on it, bolted it back on tried to start it and seen a spark kind of light coming from under the hood, after a few trys my dome lights went out, trunk release wouldnt work, no headlights parklights, horn, radio, but when i hit the brake the brake lights come on, all turn signals work, along with interior gauge lights and reverse lights,


ive put so much into this car, im 17 and getting tired of dealing with this car personly, when it starts nothing can out run it on the road, its things like this that make me never want to look at it again,

ive checked everything, i just dont understand why my car is doing this, i love my camaro to death and this just sucks,

ive made sure everything was hooked back up in the way i found it, i just really hope i didnt fry all my lights, my trunk pop, power locks and all that, heres a list of everything ive done,


checked ALL fuses, disconnected the starter wires and tried my lights, i dont know what else to try,

heres a list of wont work now,

all lights that are supposed to come on when you pull the light switch, no dome lights, truck release (still pulls hatch down), no power locks, no radio, no headlights, taillights, marker lights, car just clicks when is trying to start,

ok, you obviously have a short. One thing to check and make sure of is that the main battery cable from the battery to the starter is intact. Make sure there isn't a hole worn in the cable covering causing it to short out on the frame. I had that happen on a Camaro I owned several years ago. Caused a lot of the same symptoms you are describing.

 

thanks for the help, with what you told me i found out my fusable links that go to the starter had blown, i just straight wired them shimed the starter and she fired right up and everything works flawlessly now. and i need a set of 91 92 camaro tail lights or some sheets of tint, do you know anyone that has these? ive checked junk yards for the lights with no luck, im looking to trade the ones on my car for the grids, heres a link to my car, check it out and tell me what you think...

Glad it helped and you are going again. Don't know anyone who has any tail lights, wish I did because I need one myself. Try the used parts section on this site, I found an oil cooler line I broke on here and the guy was super easy to deal with.

 

Nice car dude!! I have a 91 Firebird with the Tpi 350/700r4 transplanted. Still has the stock 273 5.0 rear end , but it really moves!
