I have an 86 TA with an 87 350 TPI out of a vette swapped in, the problem started with smoking on start up, so my local garage replaced the valve seals and said that was the problem, then when I got the car back it now smokes constantly. They say that replacing those seals must have raissed the compression and now my rings are bad. Does this sound accurate? Could this happen? Thanks for any advice or help.

 

i dont see how that would be possible valve seals have nothing to do with compression...

but they certainly screwed something up

 

well at the same time as the valve seals they also replaced my intake gasket, I don't know much about engines, but The car used to only smoke on start up, not it smokes alot on start up and while it's still running.
