my engine is a turd

-350
-engine had a miss
-cam lobe was gone
-replace broken performance cam with new stock 350 cam and lifters
-ignition timing set to 12 degrees
-followed edelbrock's idle setting procedure for 1404 carb
-engine stumbles over 1500 rpm in neutral. Engine stumbles over 2500 rpm in gear.
-at WOT gas vapor shoots out the top of the carb.
-Small puffs of smoke from exhaust that smell like raw gasoline at idle. Large clouds when punching it.

-Added a fuel regulator.
-Rebuild the carb
-got a tuning kit added the smallest jets and largest rods.( lean as possible)
-replaced distributor, cap and rotor, new plugs, new wires
-this brought the revs up before it stumbles by 500

What is my issue?

Using in-tank pump or mechanical pump with a pickup?
What's fuel pressure set at?
Have you tried changing timing up or down 2 degrees and see what happens?

The carb isn't rich in it's settings, you can't physically tune a carb to get it to run that rich. Something is wrong. Not tuning.

I think it's more ignition then it is fuel.
- Pull your valve covers off while running. Make sure all rockers are a-rockin'
- Make sure each plug is firing. Hook up your timing light to each wire to verify.
- Pull your plugs and see if any look odd, like it's not firing. Then diagnose that hole.
