Would "elgin roller rockers" do anything for me?

I can get some "elgin roller rockers" for free. Should I pop them on my tbi 305 or just sell them? I'm dropping a new engine in this income tax seasons, but they are free so, would they benefit my 305 any in the mean time?

roller rockers are always good, but there are a couple of drawbacks. First, you won't gain enough power to actually feel, and second, if the valves are severely worn, then they'll have a ridge in them where max lift was with the stock rockers. Changing rockers is then a sure way to pound this ridge into the guides, possibly doing much damage, even if the new rockers are 1.50:1, because stock rockers are more like 1.47:1.
Also, if the new rockers are 1.6:1, they may be too much for high-mileage springs, even if you do have enough clearance.
Best to just leave the engine alone.
