witch shorty plug to get???
my motor has a cam and headers and carb. If any of that maters. L98 heads also.
I was looking at spark plugs and found the accel shorty U-grove plugs... but they have about 20 or more differnt thread lengths and heat ranges~!!...

The Accel shorts are not shorter length sticking out of the motor as much as they are shorter length going into the motor. I have dometop pistons - I HAVE to run the Accel shorts - the shorter thread length means they go into the cylinder a shorter distance - a regular AC/Delco (or any other regular plug) and my pistons hit the plugs!

thats not what I read. they have many differnt thread lengths witch would be the part screwing into the motor like your talking about. But they actual plug is supposed to be shorter.

Yeah I read that they were supposed to be shorter to give header clearance as well. They might be, I just never really noticed, and with my headers that wasn't really an issue, but pistons hitting plugs was.
I have no clue on heat ranges and which to pick. I'm assuming that a "hotter" plug may burn excess fuel better maybe if your running rich, or something like that - I don't know

I installed NGK UR5's in my car. They work pretty good and clear my SLP headers well.

"Shorty" refers to the length of the exterior of the plug, not the thread length.
If you know what plug is called out for your head (engine), cross reference it to the Accel plug, and get the "S" suffix for shorty (for example, if the call-out is 276, then get 276S).
