Hi,
I have just bought an 1987 firebird. The lights do not raise but the motor sounds like it is spinning the shaft. I assume i need the common fix using the three inserts. But i can not get the lights to raise, lifting up on them and using the manual motor ****. I do not want to pull really hard and break anything. Any one have an idea as to what the hang up might be?

 

I had to take off the caps and use pliers to turn the ***** because they were stripped, mabye that will help

 

yeah they strip out over time, i had to take my friends and just unhook them, open them and lock them up like that

 

forgive me for hijacking the thread, but how did you lock them up? i want to do exactly that.

 

Open it up And jam the gears, if you want it permanent use some superglue there's probably a better way but I don't own a bird and haven't had enough time to tinker with it
