That is your oil pressure switch for the gauge in the car. Either thats leaking or you have a leak higher up such as the valve cover or rear of the intake.

Ah.. so that may explain why the oil pressure gauge starts off reading normal and the pressure dies away during a drive....

You'll notice that the connector is a 3 wire job - make sure the parts store gives you another 3 wire unit - often their computer screens pull up the older 1 wire job instead.
