Wife got an HHR LT

So the past few days my wife has been giving me the ol' "your going to put money into your car and I need a new SUV" so - we went a found her something. It's a used 2007 Chevrolet HHR LT 2.2 Ecotec automatic trans in silver. It's pretty cool looking, and is modeled after the 1949 Suburban. Does anyone else have one of these? Have you been happy with it? I know there's a forum for them, but my visit over there revealed some good info but mainly tuners who are getting 20hp from full bolt ons and maybe more with tuning.
It DEF. needs help in the power department, but I am going to leave it alone.

I dont know where else to post this, and I have always thought TGO needs a "general discussion" or "whatever goes" section (how bout it Five7?) so I posted it here...

Re: Wife got an HHR LT

the ecotech motors are awsome... strongest 4cly out there.. i had the ss colbalt with the 2.0 eco with a eaton supercharger. 250bhp stock, after tuning smaller pullies and exhaust and just messing with it, easy 350bhp car and it still got 30+mpg but since its a auto and a wifes car i would just leave it alone. there is a hugh aftermarket support for the gm ecotecs but thats wasted money that could be going into ur camaro.. beleve me my wife traded the colbalt in on a nissan cube..

Re: Wife got an HHR LT

Yeah, I wont be modding this outside of a re usable K&N filter... Just want to know how the reliability stacks up? We got out of a v8 explorer, the last of the 5.0 pushrods, thats why I held on to it for so long. It clocked 177,000 miles without 1 single problem! and im not exaggerating. It was the most impressive SUV I have ever had, and it will be missed! As a matter of fact, my 3 year old girls cried when we sold it, and they were really upset about the new "car" and not a truck. lol
By the way... The 4G63 mistubishi in my old DSMs was VERY impressive for 4 bangers. Reliability on the other hand... crap! So you may have a point!

close you forgot the P... GT40P 5.0! It would outrun my stock 1985 Z28 LB9. NO sweat!

Re: Wife got an HHR LT

Lets not talk about that truck anymore.. lol I hated to see it go. I had 3 different fox body stangs and "eyed" that truck multiple times. I wanted the heads and intake. I hear it makes hatch foxes run 13.5's with gears and exhaust! I guess you can compare the Gt40p's to chevrolets vortec in terms of power and affordability. I would love to see a set of Gt40p's and 062's side by side.. anyone game? Im sure it could all be found easily, im just being lazy!

Re: Wife got an HHR LT

ive done a few swaps and even with the 4.10 gears and slicks with bolt ons and a 150shot of nos ive seen them run low 13's to high 12's also in the 95 cobra the gt40 heads came roller rockers and guide plates/springs and retainers from the factory and there cobra intake is a little better then the exploder... i would just do a 351w head swap with chevy 2.02 valves way better in the long run.

Actually the GT40p out flows the regular GT40. And the cobra intake is not much better than the Exploder. I had Bennet Racing ported gt40's on this:

and this had 40p's.

I agree the 351 is the better choice but if they were getting those times with nitrous (i dont say nos, thats a brand name) then something was wrong. Maybe your track has a high DA or something.
