Corvette motor into my Firebird?
Hey everyone,
I was talking to my uncle today and he has a 350 from a 97 Corvette sitting in his garage.. I was talking to him about purchasing it to put into my 88 Formula that currently has a 305 Tpi. Its a 4 bolt main with just the block, Intake, heads and water pump still on it. I would like to give it a complete rebuild before putting it in my car. I would rebuild the engine back to stock no mods or anything.
Questions
1. Would there be any issues with fitting this 350 in my bird? (Tpi intake fitting up with new engine etc.)
2. Approximately how much would it cost to freshen up/rebuild the 350? (using good parts)
3. Anything else I should look out for/know while planning out this swap?

Re: Corvette motor into my Firebird?
1. If I am not mistaken, 97 Corvettes were equipped with LS1 engines. TPI intake manifold will not bolt up. Since you say the Corvette engine already has the intake, this should not be a problem.
2. Price depends on how much machining you need and what new parts you use. I would say plan on spending at LEAST $1500.
3. Check the LS engine swap forum. Make sure that engine is an LS1 also. If it is not, then it didn't come from a 97 Corvette. I could be wrong but I am 97% sure 97 Corvettes did have them.

97 is the first year for the LS1
you will need the harness, PCM, A transmission, crossmember
and a lot of time and money

The 350 in the Corvette is an LS1, go to the engine swap section and there is a sticky at the top of the page for LS1 swaps. How many miles are on it? Might not need rebuilt. As for fitting under your hood, you won't have a problem.

Post a pic, its hard to understand what engine you're looking at because a TPI intake has no chance of fitting LSx heads. A LTx engine will fit the intake assuming you redrilled the bolts, but a vette guy would never do that esp for the lame duck TPI intake
