Edelbrock Carb Intake--bolt tourque cant be this low??
It said tighten to 11ft/pds..so i did.but now when i turn the engine over by hand (havent been able to start car because of various other problems) I can hear air hissing out..can i go any tighter to try and stop it?
Re: Edelbrock Carb Intake--bolt tourque cant be this low??
Is it a Vortec-style intake? If so, bolt torque is very low when used with factory-style Vortec intake gaskets. It's a plastic shim with o-rings around all the ports. Only requires enough torque to compress the o-rings. Any more than that does nothing but distort and crack the hard plastic shell of the gasket.
In any case, the hissing you hear while hand-cranking the engine is air bleeding past the rings on the compression stroke and is normal.
