Is there any reason I cant downsize Coolant Reservoir

I need to make some room under the hood and I was wondering if there is any reason I cant replace the coolant reservoir with someting smaller like this?
It's off a mitsubishi Lancer.

Dont see why not. I have a small aluminum one mounted in front of the radiator. The only thing with it is that it doesnt recirculate the coolant so when the car is cold the coolant level is down an inch or two in the radiator. I have no cooling problems though. You can see it in my sig pic.

a very common solution is a 4th gen. coolant recovery tank/battery tray . i have done this , it's pretty easy . do a search and you will find many threads . i would suggest it as it fully hides the recovery tank and replaces rotted out battery tray . good luck .

Take out your old one and measure how much volume there is between full cold and full hot mark. That's about the volume you need (+ a little more so it's not pulling empty on cold) to burp the hot expanded fluid without running over your reservoir.
