Bad to run a little extra oil?

I have one race to do this year and I have an extra capacity oil pan waiting to go in the car next year but with my new motor I'm a little worried because it takes so long for the oil to drain back to the pan. It's an autocross car that spends lots of time in the high rpm range and I'm just worried it'll suck the pan dry before it drains down.

You could get windage, and that could hurt your bearings. But running too low can seize the engine. If you're willing to check all the bearings this winter, then add another quart. I'm usually not one for trick oils or additives, but I think you're a good candidate for Lucas or Amsoil. It's not much cost, and it sure can't hurt.

It can be. Depends on how much extra. If you put in to much oil, it can be aerated by the crankshaft. But if you are running a windage tray, it may keep the air bubbles down a bit.
