1.6 rocker question
Ok, so in the How to tune a small block Chevy book it supposedly says to use a 1.6 ratio rocker on the intake valve only. Does anyone on here have any good results with this? or even 1.6 rockers in general? Will they clear the stock valve covers? What kind of Hp or torque increases?

Re: 1.6 rocker question
Exhaust valves don't need the extra lift. The piston pushes out the exhaust gases.
I have no idea if the rockers will clear stock valve covers. It depends on the exact rocker used. Some aftermarket valve covers won't work with aftermarket rockers either. A couple of rockers may need to be clearanced. It's not hard. You just file down part of the rocker.
Going from a stock, stamped steel rocker to a roller rocker will reduce friction and add some HP. Going from a 1.5 roller rocker to a 1.6 roller rocker might gain 5 flywheel HP.
1.6 rockers are just a poor man's cam swap. They do allow higher lifts that are not possible with flat tappet cams but what roller cams can easily achieve. It's better to just buy a cam with the lift you're looking for.
