First block assembly, need some advice
Ok ive got my L98 moving a bit, i got the crank in, everything checks out with the plastigauge, and i have the pistons in now ive been having some clashing advice on what to do from here....
I was told by birdtojag who has built a few motors that run great, not to lubricate the piston rings and just rotate them in the cylinders dry, now ive been doing this at my uncles house and he swears up and down that i need to oil the pistion rings somehow, wether it be motor oil or a stick of butter??? ( the butter thing came outta left field for me lol) Now i know that oil in the chamber wouldnt be too good for combustion but i am kind of worried about rotating the motor by hand when theres so much drag on the pistons...everything is assembled with assembly lube so i know its not the crank dragging, the resistance got higher each time i added a new piston into the mix which makes sense, it will turn over but i have to give it a pretty good push to get them going, we honed the cylinders before all this btw
can someone tell me what to do here?

Get some oil in there, immediately!!!!!!!! Just because your buddy had some success otherwise doesn't mean he's not flirting with disaster and pushing his luck. He may have been doing it that way for 90 years, but if so, then he's been doing it wrong for 90 years.

alright, i can do that it shoudl be fine as long as im not rotating it right? Im kinda stuck in build limbo right now since money tightened up for a few weeks, whe i do it do i have to pull the pistons again and lube or can i just coat the walls on the lower half? (like the underside of the piston)
