flywheel question and starter question
I am swapping from a 305 to a 350. I have a T5 tranny that i am going to still be using.
I have picked out 2 flywheels and would like to know what justifys the price difference.
ONE
TWO
they are 10.4 in which is stock as my clutch disc is a stock oem that i replaced only about 6K miles ago. and this flywheel is a lighter one like what came stock on my 84 camaro.
or should i go with a different flywheel?
next question i need a starter can someone recommend me one.

Use "TWO"
The re-man LT1 starters are the best priced lightweight starters. Just specify that it's for a '95 Z28, for example.

Re: flywheel question and starter question
You didn't say that up top.
Have to use the flywheel that fits the engine
1 and 2 pce cranks have different bolts patterns and the engines are balanced differently
Both the flywheels you listed are for later 1 pce engines and have same 153 tooth starter

Re: flywheel question and starter question
what is the stock flywheel tooth count on my 305 because if it is 153 i will use my existing starter until it burns out then replace it with a better one.

Re: flywheel question and starter question
Your stock starter should be 153 tooth - I think all the 3rd gens had 153 tooth flywheels since the T5 was too small for the 168 tooth wheel.

Re: flywheel question and starter question
The Zoom (number two) flywheel is made in China (ask me how I know), and is not SFI approved.
considering if it DOES fail, there's a fair chance it could send hot shrapnel through your ankles, it's really up to you! Chances are for mild applications you'd be fine, but......I went with GM.
*EDIT* ---according to summit, that GM FW isn't SFI approved either. Hmmm. Still, I'm not a fan of a knock-off Chinese part. Nice people, awesome food, crappy quality.

Re: flywheel question and starter question
I got the same flywheel, but in Steel, not nodular iron. It added about 10 pounds, but lots of people seem to be unhappy with the idling characteristics of the lighter flywheels. ...I've been real happy with it. Although I did pay about $30 bucks less back in the Spring.
