winter rebuild
winter rebuild
I have 84 z28 H.O. with a great body and almost not an inch of rust. How ever the engine is pretty dirty and everyone told me to just power wash it.
I was thinking of pulling the engine out and then cleaning it but then I started thinking about a rebuild.
Nothing major, just a complete stock rebuild replacing the gaskets and what not.
My question is can anyone give me a rough estimate. I want to replace all the little things that get wear and tear like cam bearings and so forth.
I have never done this before but i will have the help of multiple people who have the knowledge and proof or their skills.
I do not want to do any major work. The engine runs great and has 73k
Thanks

Re: winter rebuild
If later you decide to go the engine rebuild route, consider a new crate 350 or rebuilt motor with a warranty. In the long run, you'll be happier.
Good luck

Yes it is a 305, but its old and sat for a couple years here and there so everything rubber like the hoses are going bad. I want to at least replace all the gaskets and seals.
Would that be a good idea? I dont want to just clean the outside. It is my belief that a lot of the gaskets are bad, but I dont know if there is a way to find out.
I dont have alot of money but I dont want to have to worry about any leaks and I dont want to use liquid stop leak solutions.
I also just want to get in there and do some work on it, but im trying to keep it original so a different engine is out of the question.
Thanks
