I have 89 iroc z 305 tuneport, i just bought the car today the kid i got it from said it ran fine couple weeks ago the started running funny, he cleaned mass air flow sensor with no luck still throwing code 33 an 22, replaced the tps sensor an nothing either, got car today tryed starting it nothing, took maf off cleaned again, sprayed little carb cleaner into the throttle body an tryed again car fired an ran fine for about 10 minutes, then shut off tryed starting again, an started back up again, shut off once again an tryd again an will not start now, anyone please help me on this is a pain in the ***, thanks alot for the help, an ps if anyone has a mass air flow sensor they dont want let me know, thanks again

 

code 22 has to do with tps. code 33 with maf.

 

if you sprayed starter into carb and it started but then died it seems like a fuel problem

 

i sprayed into the throttle body, i just went out now an after it seems to sit awhile it will start back up an run fine till it get warm an the it died out again, its throwing code 22 an 33, i replaced the throttle pos sensor,wich i think is the reason it was throwing 22, i never did unhook battery after cleaning mass air flow sensor an replaceing tps sensor,how do u test the mass air flow sensor to see if its bad or not, thanks for the help guys , this site rules)

 

take the iac out and clean it real good, that might take care of it stalling when it gets hot.

idle air control valve. it is located on the throttle body on the left near the bottom(under the tps sensor)

 

k ill try it would this make it not start smetimes, an should i reset the codes by undoing the battery??

 

yes it can cause the car to stall if the iac is not working properly due to gunk built up in there or the iac being faulty. and yeah i would clear the codes, if for nothing else just to see if the ses comes back on.

 

ok i cleaned the iac, stil nothing, if the mass air flow sensor is bad, will the car not start sometimes, ? then randomly shut off after getting warm???

Mine did something similar and it wound up being an injector that would short out after getting hot and not let me restart and then wouldn't start at all. It would run if I sprayed ether or gas into the plenum for a moment.

 

have you checked the fuel pressure and also tried to run the car with the maf unplugged?

 

im ganna check fuel preasure 2marow, an no i didnt check with unplugged, what will that do an if the injectors are bad do i omh test them just stick the thing on the pos. an see what they are for ohms? an does car have to be running to do this, i got mad an ripped all the plug wires out, was ganna replace cap rotor an wires, it has new plugs i checked one today, thanks for all the help...

 

not to sound like your dad but it's just a car. it does not respond to your moods. All that you have is a technical problem that you must go through the basic steps of troubleshooting, stop running in all directions and you will have it running again.

Do you get spark yes/no?

are there intake or exhaust obstructions yes/no?

are you getting enough fuel yes/no?
