so i have had this car for about 2 months. its got 157000 miles. the guy said he replaced the water pump 2 years ago. since i got the car i have watched the temp gauge slowly rise day by day gettin hotter and hotter. when i drive it its now running at 250 degrees. i got a new thermostat to put it, but the thermostat seems to be opening when the car is hot(i took of the radiator cap and saw the coolant flowing). so my question is if i put in the new thermostat and it continues to overheat what is my issue?

 

Is your fan coming on? Do you have an air dam under the front of the car?

 

ya there air dam is there and the fan comes on. when i took of the cap it looked as if it was flowing but it also looked like it was bubbling. which my cousin said may be a head gasket blowing exhaust past. but i have no idea at this point. im replacing the thermostat tomorrow so i will update then.

 

luckily it was the thermostat.
