Sealed Power assembly lube, crank hard to turn
I used THIS assembly lube which is green and very sticky/tacky on my main bearings and my crank seems like it wont turn when at full torque.
If the caps are torqued at 25ftlbs,the crank is movable, just not as freely as it should.
Should i use a different assemble lube?

it seems like its only ment for cams couse the thickness. i use graphite assembly lube and mix it with a little oil works fine every time

So i should wipe it off and try something else?
I already put it on the cam bearings but that spins freely.

Re: Sealed Power assembly lube, crank hard to turn
I would wipe all the thick goop off and oil the crank with motor oil. Torque it all down and see if it spins free. if it will not spin free with just oil, you have problems. when you disassemble the mains, look at the bearings to see if there are any shiney spots that would indicate the bearings contacting the crank. With the block upside down, the lower halves of the bearings should show almost no evidence that they have touched the crank. If there is a mis alignment, caps on backward or wrong order, then you will likely see shiny areas on either side of the lower bearing, especially near the parting line. If the bearing are shiny all over or near the center of the bearing, I would suspect mismatched bearing and/or journal sizes. If the crank spins freely with the caps off, then it is likely not a mismatch in size, more likely an alignment problem or just too thick of a lubricant. The oil should tell the trick.

Yeah, even though I hate doing stuff over again, its something that has to be done.
There is no pep boys around me so I would have to try autozone and see what they have.
Thanks for the help man.

Re: Sealed Power assembly lube, crank hard to turn
Thats the stuff I used. Yes it got very hard to turn the engine over once everything was torqued up. Had to put the balancer on, put three bolts into it, then use a bar between any two at a time to turn it while setting my valves. I was worried the starter wouldnt have the power to turn it over that first time, but it was fine. All the oil priming I did may have washed some of it out by then though.
I did use plastigage before lubing it up, and the clearances were a little on the tight side, but not bad enough that it should have been so hard to turn. That stuff is just really sticky. Its meant to be so it doesnt run off before you're finished building the engine.
