Planning a build...need help

Hey All,

I am new to the group and must admit that I am not a technical person. I am planning to have some mods done to my 89 Formula 350. (Lucy) She is completely stock with 48k miles. She is an occasional Sunday driver and when I say occasional, I mean 50 miles in the last year. I like to look at her more than drive her. However, the last time I had it out a new Camaro pulled up next to me and the guy smirked at me. Compared to my old Bird maybe..... Anyway, I don't plan to let that these guys stand a chance against her. I have been looking into a top end kit from jegs (Edelbrock 2097) has anyone used this? How much can I expect to gain from this? I'm not interested in HP/TQ numbers...just 0-60, 0-100. I'll never see these guys in a 1/4.....

I plan to spend anywhere from 5-6k....please don't suggest that I swap for an LSx. I plan to keep her as original as possible.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Jim

I'm new here also and I will give you a tip from old experience, save all that money and buy you a 125hp shot of nitrous. Use it when you need it and keep your car stock, it wont hurt it. Just my suggestion, i have embarrased some smirkers with this stuff.

What are you planning to do with your 2k? I am meeting with a local engine builder to discuss my build.

Re: Planning a build...need help

hFirst off I started with a 350 bored .30 over that came with the car the motor aldready had an edelbrock intake and holley 750 carb... so that was all free basically what I did myself was as follows
600 rhs heads assembled with comp cams springs retainers and guideplates
100 comp cams 292 magnum cam and pushrods
100 for full fel pro gasket set
75 I believe for brand new arp head bolts
150-200 assorted lubes threadlock rtv new hoses/fuel lines misc. Bolts
100 accel plug wires and ac delco copper plugs
70 oil,oil filters
And finally the nitrous I plan on doin a 100 shot its a top shot kit so its all hidden in the airn cleaner that's not bought yet but can be had for anywhere from 350 to 600 bucks I should be good for at least 350 hp the nitrous is an added precaution just in case I run into a bigger badder car
