small problem...

i pulled my intake off and found this. every pushrod on the passenger side was like this.
the only reason i can think of that this happened is that the cam, lifters, or pushrods are wrong. i have roller lifters but from what i know about roller cams mine isnt a roller. would that cause this to happen?
anybody who can help me please let me know.

Re: small problem...

I take it this was running? Ouch! Is this a newly rebuilt engine?

Re: small problem...

Physical damage suggests something broken internally as you probably figured. My guess, someone didn't know what they were doing and tightened the rocker nuts all the way down tight. Or mismatched components. Just a stab in the dark.

Re: small problem...

Behind the intake, behind the head, technically in the block. There is a port where an oil sending unit or a plug goes in. You're right, lots of oil will dump out of that hole! Quite discouraging. You may have an unplugged port or a broken/damaged oil sending unit.

ive heard that roller cams have lobes that are kinda oval shaped instead of the teardrop shape. my cam has the teardrop lobes. i know this motor was supposivly just gone thru, but with how much sludge i found i find that hard to believe

Re: small problem...

Given what you're finding, you should probably pull it and start over. You may be better in the long run. Think of the things you haven't found yet. It is making me cringe for you!
