What is a LT9? The L65 is just a plane 350 that made crap power.

The RPO codes for old motors are not useful, they are a waste of bandwidth. Most likely those motors aren't whatever those used to mean any more anyway.
What head castings are on them? What pistons are in them? THAT'S what makes a difference. Especially since the odds of a 70 ANYTHING still being whatever it was originally assembled as, are quantum-mechanically tiny. I'm guessing that's more than twice as long as you've been on the planet?
That said, you should put the cam in a motor. It will make very little power otherwise. I would pick the one with the better head castings and the higher compression, especially if it's in better condition. If that one is not in good shape, I'd restore it, or find another.

I would have to agree that the one in best shape with the best heads is the one to use. You also cant take horsepower seriously from a 1970 engine. The ratings were way too optimistic.

350 heads pretty much all came with 1.94"/1.50" valves. Only a rare few came with anything else (and most of those, it was worse; although if you have a truck motor, that's a possibility). That's not usually a valid test.
Use the ones that are the better castings to begin with.
No 70s 2-bbl smoggers, for example (882, 993, 624, no matter what valves have been jammed into them); no early 305 heads; no "swirlies"; that sort of thing.

Re: what motor is better a 70 l-65 or 85 lt-9 motor
Mang... that's a tough one....
Both are 70s DEEP smogger heads. 993 of course is one of the ones I specifically mentioned; 261 could be either a mid-70s 2-bbl head or a mid-80s truck head, likely to have 1.72" intakes. Yuck.
Which smells worse; monkey dung, or anteater dung? Hmmmm.........
Sounds like it's time to dispose of some scrap cast iron, see what pistons are in the blocks, and what shape the motors are in generally, and go head-hunting.

Re: what motor is better a 70 l-65 or 85 lt-9 motor
Valve size isn't the problem.
Anybody can jam any size valves into any casting. Doesn't make the casting any better. Doesn't fix what's inadequate about the casting, which is the ONLY thing that matters. Everything else is repairable.
Neither of those is a useable basis for any kind of a performance build. Forget about them and find something better. Trying to build a "fast" motor out of either will produce nothing but disappointment and a waste of money.
