weird check engine light?

Axle/Gears: 3.42 gov lock
weird check engine light?

when ever i have my cars ignition on my check engine light is on but when i start my car it goes off, i ran my codes the other day and it kept giving me a code 12, after the 10th time i stopped, is this normal?

Yes code 12 is normal. It is not a fault code.

I think the check engine light is always on with the key in the on position but the engine still off. I could be wrong though.
