2nd gen problems

First off I know this isnt a site for 2nd gens but I cant find any help anywhere else and a car is a car. But onto the point My friend has a 77' Firebird and his turn signals dont work his left turn signal indicator dont work and when he tries to turn on the turn signal the corresponding brake light goes out. And his Heater doesnt work on high and only blows out defrost, the heater problem is a bad relay and a vaccum leak right? anyway any help is appreciated

Is the turn signal switch working properly ? That would be the first place I would check .

It seems that requests for info on 2nd gens are so common that I wonder, is there really no "2ndgen.org" or equivalent? Must tell you something about those cars if there isn't one for them... but there is for us.... something to think about!

Re: 2nd gen problems

The defrost issue means a vacuum leak - the switches that divert the flow from floor to vent to defrost are vacuum controlled, when there is not enough vacuum to work the switch, the default setting is defrost.

On signals I'd start with a complete 4 corner bulb replacement (because it's easy), and while there verify all the ground contacts on each bulb socket, then check the flasher under the dash and replace, then I'd check into the operation of the turn signal switch.
