changing a computer in a 91 Rs?

I'm gonna be changing out the dash instrument panel and computer in my car, I've already taken out the dash instrument panel before but never have gotten to the computer. How hard is it to get too? Does it consist of taken out the whole dash or just the dash board?

You should only need to take out the under-dash panel on the passenger side. The computer is right above that panel, mounted vertically.

I just changed mine out the other day its easy. Unplug battery before you pull out the wires into the computer i didn't do this and everything is fine but just to be safe i would. The wires plugged into the computer can be a little struggle to get off until you figure it out good luck and have fun

Re: changing a computer in a 91 Rs?

just to clarify I just need to take out the dash part under the dash board, on the passenger side? I have always thought it was one big piece and then everything else is added on like the instrument panel and dash board etc. Looking back on your reply did you mean even lower near the heater motor?

Yes, way down underneath the dash. Down where you feet go. Its a couple of Torx screws IIRC. It's been a while since I removed that panel and I've never gotten around to putting it back. Basically, the computer is mounted right behind the RS/Z28 logos on the dash.
