No accel. when hot
I have a prob. I don't know much about it and maybe you all can help me.
My 89 305 auto tranny has plenty of power. until it gets hot, then if I only press the pedal down about .25in. it has the same power any more than that and it almost dies.
.5 to WOT and it starts stumbling all over the place. it can't hold any speed. My first thought was fuel pump not being able to keep up with demand. the next thing that I thought of was the filter but it was replaced someone told me to spray TBI cleaner everywhere and PB blast to lubricate.
What I am going to do is get some TBI cleaner and use it to check for vac. leakes. and post what i find. I fired it up on Sat. and literally did doughnuts in my yard until it got hot I also will be running it until the SES lights comes and will jumper to try to read code.

I'm thinkin' ignition. Take your coil and electronic module in to Autozone to get it checked. I had a module and coil get weak when it got to operating temp

Re: No accel. when hot
no prob I drove it last night until it started acting up I got it back home and raised the hood. I got my wife to drop it into drive hold the brake and gunn it and on both sides of the engine it lit up like a xmas tree. I seen enough blue to look like a lightning storm this weekend FULL tune up with QUALITY ignition wires and I will be taking the ign. coil to get it tested. I will post results.

Re: No accel. when hot
well i goofed up IDK what the prob. is I put on a DIY set of MSD Streetfire plug wires ($54) I think I did them right (my first time) and still same prob. I popped the hood at night and still see some (very little) arching. under hard accel. with car in drive w/brake held. It won't even spin a wheel if the pedal is to the floor. next steps: check fuel filter, fuel pressure, check ignition coil, check injectors, maybe fuel pump, maybe a custom fit non-DIY set of accel wires ($80), and if that doesn't do it then in JAN. I'll just put it in the shop.
I don't think that it is a fuel prob. I say that because I still see the wires arching a little but I could be wrong. my worst fear is that it is the computer (not getting any codes so far) or a sensor causing other sensors to read wrong under WOT or something like that. Any help is appreiciated.

Re: No accel. when hot
A little help please, WTC (what the crap) I changed to some new wires and I still have the same problem. The fire is not going thru the wires to the plugs I noticed last night that the wires were arching in the middle of the wire. how can two diff. set of wires be doing the same thing? Even if I have another problem I can't deal with it until I get rid of this one.
These are the MSD streetfire's and I had to strip and put the dist. side of the wires together myself. They are not arching at the dist. from what I can see it's in the middle and at the plug. I pulled a couple of the plugs and they are in good shape. I get plenty of power from the car until it gets hot Ohhhhh I made sure that the wires were off the manifold. WTC WTC WTC WTC I know this sounds like a rookie prob. but I am a rookie please help me. Has anyone had a prob anywhere close to this? It's like the Dist. is putting more than the wires can handle IDK if this is the original Dist. or not. oh! it has blue spark, and is a 89 rs 305 w/700r4 I think??!! I'm starting to think that someone might have changed it to a 350 like that PO told me at first I didn't believe him.
coil is fine, fuel filter fine, dist. cap seems fine, rotor button fine,
with autolite plugs
