How far does the harmonic balancer sit from the timing cover?

Hey guys, I have a 1978 350, 2 bolt main, with an 8" balancer.. How far should it sit out from the timing cover? The bolt is torqued at 60 ft/lbs and sits 3/8" from the cover, is this too much?

Should be close, but should bottom out when you are using an installer on it anyway. Then install the bolt and torque to specs.
