Car start problems
Car start problems
Hi I know this is the third gen site but this site gets best feedback and i have a general problem. My 94 z28 wont start. i replaced the waterpump and installed headers on my car. after i put it all back together it wont start. the voltmeter always reads low but when i try to jump it its turns on but wont turn over. then after its charged i start it it goes to turn and then everything shuts off and i have to reset the battery. its a brand new alternator and a newish battery. id like to have my baby back up and running but i dont have the money for a mechanic but id like to do it myself(im a DIYer). Any help or comments appreciated Thanks

Re: Car start problems
if the battery keeps going dead, you've got an issue with the battery. take it down to you local advance/autozone/napa/etc, they can test it for free. wouldn't hurt to get the alt bench tested as well.
otherwise, do you have a check engine light on?

Re: Car start problems
the battery isnt dead because when i turn the car on the lights all work fine and my radio bumps...it cant be a battery problem. i checked and the ignition wasnt grounded where the coil is. i grounded them and had the same problem. this is killing me.. when i try to start the battery dies but i disconnect and reconnect the battery everything turns back on...
