86 Iroc 305 TPI sensor, help!

I am having issue's identifying what the sensor is on the drivers side of the block between the first two cylinders. Also, advice on a GOOD repair manual and where to pick one up would great.

yes, only one wire. I am having a problem with my temp guage reading. I have two sensors on the front of the engine. I replaced one that I thought was the temperature sensor but maybe this newly discovered one is my problem.

Hello baladairsupply!!

The sensor in the driver's side cylinder head is the temp sensor for the gauge, usually has a single green wire!!

P.S. If the wire is not connected, your gauge won't work at all, if it's grounding out it will usually read high really quickly, if it's an intermittent connection, it will usually react slowly!!

Once you get the connection fixed, the sensor changed/checks out, and the wire checks out okay, if your still having problems, I would make sure that your gauge in the dash is held tightly with the screws, and not just sitting there, loose, like mine was!!
