using the flex plate with a 350 engine

I am swapping in a 350 engine and notcied that the 350 came with a flywheel. the 350 is from the 70's I need to use the flex plate from the 305 since I need it to bolt to the torque convertor but he 305 cranks looks circular. would it be okay to bolt a flex plate onto the 350's crank.

Re: using the flex plate with a 350 engine

The difference is between the one piece rear main seal on the 305,and the two piece on the older 350. I don't think the flywheels or starters will interchange.

Re: using the flex plate with a 350 engine

I plan on using the starter from my car since it will match the flex plate. Can I just bolt it up th the two piece rear main seal crank

You need a flexplate for a 2 piece rear main crankshaft.

Re: using the flex plate with a 350 engine

Go to a parts store and ask for a 10.4" 153 tooth flexplate for a small block chevy with a 2 piece rear main seal.
