starter help

i just recently bought an 91 rs. when i try to crank it the starter is making a racket and its just barely turning the flywheel. anybody know what could be causing this?

sounds like the bendex in the started might be bad. if u can hit the starter with a hammer and try cranking it again. If that dont work might be time for a new starter

Not sure, but it could be the shims too.
