You all wont answer my question about radiator with cap off?
You all wont answer my question about radiator with cap off?
I see all other topics responded to.
If i do NOT see the smoke/steam i saw when i had the cap ON, is this a good sign? I may have a possible leak, i didnt see all that much smoke out of the tailpipe i will watch the ground, but i ran the car with the cap OFF today and i did NOT see the smoke i saw with it on.
The smoke came from under the carburetor, it looked like.
Possibilities on NOT seeing it with the cap OFF? Thanks!
I also added water, radiator looked pretty empty.

what engine do you have?-if it's a 2.8v6,some of those
had an electric heat grid under the carburator and that
might be causing the smoke if some oil or something
got on it.

Re: You all wont answer my question about radiator with cap off?
Welcome to TGO! We are glad you are here - the more the merrier!
All I can say is CHILL OUT!
You must understand a few things.
1) You ain't paying us, so IF we answer and WHEN we answer is totally up to US.
2) This is an internet forum - we are folks from all over the world that happen to own and love the 3rd generation F-body. Doesn't mean we are experts. We have lives - family, wives, kids, school, jobs - not to mention our own projects, issues with our cars, etc.
3) Given this, questions may go for days, weeks, months without getting answered. If you need immediate response, then you need to check with a local mechanic which usually involves dishing out some dough.
4) Usually, questions go unanswered because a) the folks that read the question don't have an answer, b) the folks that have an answer didn't read the question, or c) no one quite understood the question and thus refrained from answering
5) As we are all avid enthusiasts, we love to help. BUT - we don't usually answer if we feel like our answer could be wrong - giving a wrong answer is not helping, and we are here to help.
Now - I hope this didn't come off as me trying to be some harda$$. I'm spending MY time here trying to help you - by explaining to you how this (and any other internet forum) works. We do what we can to help others. We expect in return patience above all else - if you lack the patience to wait for an answer, then you lack the patience to turn your own wrenches anyway.
Posts get buried as new posters post new posts (say that 3 times fast). You can always post again, in your original post, a simple "ttt" which stands for "to the top" - bringing your post back to the top where it can be readily seen again.
The board clearly shows stats on the right of the post - shows how many replies there are, and more importantly shows how many looked at your post. If there's a high "looked at" number, but a low reply number, that simply means we either don't have a good answer for you, or we don't understand the question - and most times if we don't understand, we'll respond with such - so you know we don't know what your talkin about.
But - in any case - we don't know you from Adam. And thus, we did not all get together into some conspiracy and agree to single you out as someone we would ignore. You have come to the right place for anything 3rd generation F-body related - all your answers are here. But you must have patience, and understand that we can only do what we can, given that we are not in your driveway looking at, smelling, tasting, listening, feeling YOUR car. We are simply taking educated guesses, from a mile away, or 5000 miles away - and for what we get paid (nothing), even if you get nothing, you at least got what you paid for.
I saw your posts myself, but didn't answer because I didn't have a good answer. Wasn't it better for me to not answer than to answer wrongly? I'd hate to think my ignorance blew up someone elses 3rd gen.
You might search the regional boards, as well as the internet, and find a local F-body club - I see you are in Florida, and there are alot of clubs there. That would put you in touch with someone that CAN see, hear, smell, feel, touch your car and help you maybe even better. Plus, you'll get to hook up with a local brotherhood of enthusiasts.
And again, welcome!
