i have a 91 camaro with a 350 TPI

i cant get code 43 (ESC) to go away, i have replaced almost everything, entire distributor twice, plugs, plug wires, knock sensor, knock sensor wire, cap and rotor are new, and everything i try doesnt help

i used to have a 305 tpi and it had the same code and it never went away either.

the car is timed correctly at 6*

at idle in drive/reverse it will surge and rev itself and to keep it from dying you gotta keep your foot on the gas and brake at stop lights, im using the prom from the 305 with a 350 AUJP.bin chip that i burned, and when i first swapped the motor in it ran fine with no surging but my speedo didnt work, i called moates and craig remote desktopped my computer and did some tuning stuff and we eventually just burned a stock chip and my speedo started working but then the car started the surging problem, i have swapped chips, re burned chips and swapped ecm's, the code/surging issue will not go away, and it seems i have tried everything

anyone had any similar issues with code 43 or know of anything that i should do?

your help is much appreciate! im stuck and have no idea what to do, and i really dont wanna take it to the shop

 

Check your engine grounds. They are behind the heads. Check the ecm grounds too.

 

The 305 tpi you had. Is this current chip you are using from it?!!!

 

I feel your pain, I can't get my code 43 to go away either and i have tried both knock sensors checked grounds etc. if you have this figured out how about an update?

 

I did end up figuring it out, I was using a 350 knock sensor from an 87 iroc, all thirdgens older than 91 had a knock module so from the knock sensor the wire would go to the module then to the ecm, in 91 the module was eliminated, so I got a knock sensor for a 91 and it fixed it
