Where Do I Start?
Where Do I Start?
I found this site looking for parts to a 1986 Firebird I inherited. I have a limited knowledge of engine or body repair. The car was parked for at least 10 years and the body showed signs of a collision to the driver fender and bumper and slight surface rust. Also the engine has many wires that have been cut or chewed in two and many parts appear to be missing or rigged to work temporarily. My question is where do i start? I'd like to fix the engine but I'm not sure where. Member

You found the right place on the net for help. I would start with a good repair manual. Reading it will help you become familiar with your car. You may want to ask around and see if someone in your area that knows about cars can look at it to tell you what you are looking at. You could find someone on here who lives close to you and can look at your car and give you some advice.

I am a gear head so I would start with deciding what kind of engine you wanted to run, 305, 327, 350, etc. Then go from there
