Big engines
Big engines
Has anyone ever tried to swap in one of those 8liter engiens from a yukon or 6 liter engines from a suburban in our cars or will that just give us more torque without making the car faster even if you use the 4l80 from one of those. That would be crazy has anyone done it yet?

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Big engines
THe 8 liter is a big block. Apart from the electronics, installation is much like any other big block.
The 6 liter is a LSx engine. (LQ4, LQ9, L92) Again, apart from electronics, it's the same as installing any other LSx engine.
Not sure what the transmission or "crazy" has to do with any of this? It's just an engine swap.

Oh...
That would explain why I didn't understand. (besides of course, what my userID says about me)
Some of us would consider that "normal".

Well my 305 tbi compared to cars with more horsepower feels werid no matter how you do it. It has all that torque but doesnt get up to speed that quick and creates a sense your always driving fast but you are really driving slow. I have driven the newer northstar caddys and they quicker and nicer features inside but still are not that fast. I still like what imports offer lots of revs I like hearing my engine buzz for lots of horsepower like a 3000gt vr4 or 350z. I worked in a shop and test drove many cars. Those older trucks with our engines where even slower lol.
The thing I do like on positive note is gas mileage and smoothness when cruising. Torque is silly I cant throw these cars around corners like I can a import high revver with close ratio box without drifting.

#1 these cars are heavier than most any import
#2 rwd vs fwd
#3 solid rear axle vs independent suspension
