Fuel Pump Or Ignition Module?
So My Camaro ****ed Up On me In The Middle Of The Street The Other Day After I Had It Towed Home It Would Start & Run Fine For About 30 Seconds & Then Die Out & Wouldn't Turn Over Again Untill After I Left It Alone For Awile, Now Prior To This My Car Runs Faster Sometimes Then It Does Other Times, Also It takes 2 Or Sometimes 3 Attempts To Start My Car Even After I Put A New Starter & Battery, Everytime I Turn The Key I Hear The Fuel Pump Turn On But I Heard That Sometimes It Can Still Turn On And Be ****ed Up Not Holding Pressure, I Also Just Read That If Your Ignition Module Messes Up It Can Be Similar To A Fuel Pump ****ing Up, I Have An MSD Blaster On My Car & Im Not Sure If That Would Take The Place Of An Ignition Module And Im Always Taking Off & Putting On My Coil Wire From My MSD Blaster & Distributor So I Dont Get Jacked & Im Thinking Maybe Somehow If That Could Have Messed Up My MSD Blaster & That Could Be The Cause Of The Problem My Car Is having If It Takes The Place Of The Ignition Module, Has Anyone Ever Had This Problem Or Would Have Any Advise? Thanks
P.S. Changed The Fuel Filter Already

Re: Fuel Pump Or Ignition Module?
My 1989 Iroc-Z has the Ignition Module under the Distributor cap. If you don't have a manual on your car yet I suggest at least a Chilton. Other than that I found this link that might help.(I really do suggest a manual, my "Chilton" has helped me many, many times and was well worth the $25.00 I spent on it.) Heres the link =

Re: Fuel Pump Or Ignition Module?
The MSD Blaster is just a coil, right? You still have a computer-controlled distributor? If so, you still have an ignition module in the distributor.
Your TPI? There's a shraeder valve driver side fuel rail (like a tire valve stem) - take a cloth and cover it, and press in the valve with a phillips screwdriver to release the pressure. Then start the car, and let it run a minute, then turn it off, and test the fuel pressure there with a guage - that will tell you if the fuel pump is working and delivering the pressure it should.
If fuel pressure is off, are you sure you put the fuel filter in the right direction? If its backwards, it will not allow enough fuel to flow.
If that's not the issue, then maybe try an ignition module - cheaper and easier than doing the fuel pump. They usually go out when the car gets warm (it's electrical part, doesn't like heat).
Have you checked for codes?

ronusmcmma - Alright Thanks Man I Appreciate It! Naw I Dont Have A Manual I Will Look Into It! So I Have To Take Off The Distributor Cap To get To the Ignition Module Then??
camaronewbie - Yeah It's Just For The Coil, yes I Do Oh Ok Then I guess I Got To Pull It off, is There A way I Could Tell If The Ignition Module Is No Good? yeah Im Still A 350 TPI, Where Does The Shrader Valve Connect On The Engine Exactly?? I Didnt Change The Fuel Filter Yet I Got The Car Like A Year Ago. But Thats Good To Know I never Knew There Was A Certain Way The Furl Pump was Suppesed To be Positioned, Thanks! Yeah Thats True Im Hoping Its The Ignition Module

Re: Fuel Pump Or Ignition Module?
Do the easiest cheapest stuff first - no point in throwing $100 and 2 days work at a $10 problem.
CHANGE the fuel filter! This needs done every year! Find that schraeder valve, driver side on the fuel rail - it's just like a tire stem valve - cover with a rag, and push in the valve to release the pressure. Then change that filter, driver side under car just in front of the rear tire - make sure the arrow points towards front of car. You'll need a can of PB Blaster - spray the connectors for the filter at both ends, wait a day, spray again, then make sure to use two wrenches to remove so you don't break the lines.
Grab a $10 fuel pressure guage (or maybe 'rent for free' at Autozone/Advance) and connect it to that schraeder valve then start car and see what the fuel pressure is - should be high, like 40+ psi I think on a TPI car. If it's lower, then maybe think about fuel pump.
If fuel pressure is fine, then try the ignition module - about $35 - it's under the rotor button inside distributor - make sure the new part comes with grease and use it according to directions.
The LAST thing you want to do is drop the tank to replace fuel pump if you don't have to!
