"sticky" idle control? 350TPI

Hey guys, you always have the answer when I have a problem so I just know you can help me again!

I have an '88 TA with the 350 TPI. It is great. BUT.... The idle speed sticks too high. Like 1200-1300 RPM. If I blip the throttle it drops right down to about 600-700 RPM and stays there OK.

Then I drive away and when I stop next its the same.

If I am cruising in slow traffic it gains on other cars and I have to ride the brake pedal or it will pull away.

I have no error codes and the engine check light is off.

It has been like this a while but getting worse.

Its really noticeable when you try stop, you have to take it out of drive to get full braking!

I would check the throttle body to ensure it's opening & closing smoothly, i.e. without the cable binding or the throttle body being obstructed.

If everything is ok with that, check the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). It may be malfunctioning and need replaced. The procedure to set/check it can be found here: https://www.thirdgen.org/tpimod2

Hope this helps.
