Sitting forever
First off I tried to find a similar thread but was unsuccessful I know it has to be here somewhere. I have a 87 Camaro that I haven't even seen it in two years. I parked it up north until I had time to deal with it. That time has come and I am wondering what I should prepare for? What maintenance should I make sure to do other then change the oil and filter? My uncle who houses the car said he got in it one day and smelled something dead so how do I remove that smell (after I remove the carcass ASAP?

Re: Sitting forever
Well if it hasn't been ran in those two years I would change out all the fluids and check for any animal damage. As for the smell if it was something small it will probably be gone, but if it was something big than you will probably have to change out the interior.
It is a gamble though, I just brought my buddies 79 Caddy home after being in a field for 5 years and there was nothing wrong at all. He put Bounce dryer sheets all over in the passenger and trunk areas and apparently animals don't like them lol.
Good luck!

Put Seafoam in the gas tan per directions to clean out the varnish that by now the gas has turned into.
Mice love cars, more than we do - tear into the dash and vents, and you'll find your smell. You'll need to look at all wiring cause to a mouse a wire is like steak to us.

I always pull the spark plugs and squirt fogging oil in all the cylinders if its been sitting a while. It also gives you a chance to clean and gap your plugs.

Yeah, gas congeals (i believe is the term) over time when undisturbed. Syphon anything you've got out of your tank and get it out of the lines, too, if you have the means. That would mean disconnecting your carb/tbi etc and pumping air in there. 2 years isn't all that long, but make sure you put some over the counter cleaner in your tank with the fresh gas.
The big issue I've heard of is fuel line problems. In the future, invest in gasoline storage additives if your car is going to sit.

Re: Sitting forever
If the smell is on the carpet, pull it out and take it to a DIY car wash sprayer with some pet odor carpet shampoo.
