lets test your knowledge!
OK, so I'm only asking because I know you guys will be able to help me with this. I have looked through the forum and although there are many people who have a high idle, nobody seems to have exactly the same problem as mine.
So, I've recently had quite a few problems with my car ( jerking when driving, stalling, not starting) and I traced it back to a coolant fan relay and the fact that the idiot who owned it before me never had the oxygen sensor hooked up.. ) so now that I have the car running it runs great except for a high idle. it starts up and idles properly, and then once I have driven it for a few minutes the idle goes up really high (1800 to 2300 rpm) which causes the service engine light to come on and then goes off shortly after I am in motion again. I have looked up the code and it says vss (which can also be set off from a high idle, anything above 1500 for more than 4 seconds so I'm thinking that's the only reason). what could be causing such a high idle? it would be nice to get rid of this little issue!

No profile info on the left or a sig to help clue anyone in as to what you got, as you didn't say a word in your post about your car's info.

You traced a driveability problem back to a bad cooling fan relay? And now your thinking idle and vehicle speed are connected? I think you need to do a little more research... In the mean time check for a vacuum leak and make sure the idle air control is working properly.
