Re: Help ME DECODE MY ENGINE PLEASE

T = the Tonawonda engine plant; most of its output went into trucks; most trucks got a 160-165 HP 2-bbl or 180 HP 4-bbl wonder; the 2- & 4-bbl motors were absolutely identical in every way (heads, pistons, cam, etc.) except for which carb and intake they jammed on top of it.

THe VIN in the BLOCK stamping is a pre-80 one. Therefore the BLOCK is at least 31 years old.

The odds of a BLOCK that's THAT old still having ANYTHING ELSE original still attached to it, are so slim as to be quantum-mechanical. That stamping tells you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WHATSOEVER about whatever someone may have done to it while "rebuilding" it. It's entirely possible that NOT ONE SINGLE PIECE, not even so much as a bolt, is original to that BLOCK.

Whatever you think you're going to find out from that number, you're probably not.

Re: Help ME DECODE MY ENGINE PLEASE

CKA is also a 1985 305. A casting number can determine if it's a 305 or a 350 block.
