Oil Catch Tank?

Where the hell is it? LOL

I was on Ebay and saw a listing for a Oil Catch Tank, Metalic blue...looks pretty cool lol but having a hard time finding it on this car!

Now there is a small tank/can right behind the driver side headlight, but says something like Carb....something that has 2 hoses on it, once going to the carm and the other just 4 inches long hanging freely (not really sire its supposed to me though) but that tank looks nothing like this one on Ebay!

So if anyone with a 84 Firebird could shot me a pic of this in your car it would be a HUGE help.

Thanks

Greg

Re: Oil Catch Tank?

An oil catch tank is an aftermaket add on for some performance motors that tend to draw oil through the pcv system and back throught to the engine. The catch can "catches" the oil and collects it at the bottom until drained to prevent it from getting back to the motor. The can behind the headlight is the vapor canister and is for mainly emissions.

Re: Oil Catch Tank?

Unless you have alot of blowby, no need to have - another $ wasted. Blowby is when oil seeps past the piston rings, and causes burning oil smoke to get released through the pcv valve. My old worn 350 has more blowby than most peoples engines, and I don't even run a catch can.

Ahhh! Then I wont waste the cash, at first it was...a looks kinda thing lol I plan to make the engine compartment look new, hose dressings ect and thought this would be cool too.

Thanks for the info, I wont bother with that, maybe one day further down the road....just not now if its not needed.
