Please Help..... Anyone......

Hey guys, im kinda new here but been lurking around for some time and would appreciate your opinions on this. ok so i got a holley blue fuel pump feeding my weber 625 cfm carb on a somewhat built 355. ok so i took her to the track tonight for the first time to see what she would do and i ran a 9.942 in the eigth with a 2.152 60foot. but a little more than halfway down the track the engine bogged like it wasnt getting enough fuel and hence that time with a 62 mph trap speed. the fuel pump is mounted in the engine bay and i was wondering if that could be the problem or if it could be something else. the psi gauge on the regulator reads 5 when sitting so i got good pressure when its still but when it is moving is another story. so i was just wondering what yall thought on this matter, and if i need to relocate the fuel pump and if so where and to what. thanks in advance for the help. oh and i also beat a 5.0 rustang even with it bogging like it did so thats my first kill in a third gen..... feels great.

Electric pumps are better pushers than pullers so moving it closer to the tank should help. Do you have a carb pickup or are you pulling through the factory intank pump that could also be an issue.

If you never took out the factory electric fuel pump in the tank, then you're going to have to. Your external pump will kill itself trying to suck fuel through a non-working in-tank fuel pump - too much restriction. Either have to drop the tank or cut the access panel in the trunk to remove it, and replace with pick-up lines so there's no restriction. 1988 car would have definitely had an intank pump.

Your other option is to use it, if it still works. Remove the external pump and regulator, use the intank pump with a Mallory 4309 regulator.

For the record, I would suggest not cuting a gaping hole in your car and instead dropping the fuel tank and doing it the right way. Its not really all that hard to drop the tank.
