Where would the ID numbers on a 1986 350 be?
My friend has a motor in his 1970 c10. Said it came out of a 86 silverado. Where are the numbers on it and what should they be if it is a 350.

Rear of block, driver side, just below head. They are really hard to see, a mirror helps, along with a cleaning brush and some degreaser. Once you see where they are, you can clean that spot (not hard to get hand in there, harder to get head in there to see), then use a mirror to see numbers, then just type numbers in google or search "SBC block numbers" and look 'em up.
Some later blocks actually had "5.0" or "5.7" there beside the actual casting number, but best to get the casting number to really know what you have.
Heads make or break a motor - head castings under valve covers, between valves - get those to know what heads he has.

GM did not make any small block roller cam blocks until 1987, for anything.
