Bought a carb from national carbs and it came in the mail today

its a model E4ME q-jet

put it in hooked everything up to the best of my ability and it wouldn't start, so i tried again and it started but sounded like air was being pushed out so i stopped the engine to see if something disconnected but everything looked fine, it never started again after that, and it turns over but doesnt fire up

my possible explanations are

it needs carb start spray
a vaccum line isnt hooked up ( theres one i cant find where it goes its about a foot long with a 90 degree bend on the end
it also didnt come with an idle speed Assembly

any help would be sweet its a 1987 camaro 305 H.0. 4bbl
