Engine Pinging

Having some probs wit my camaro 305TPI and tryna find out why the engine is pinging like the timing is not right.i have set the timing at everything to everything to see if the pinging go aways but no luck..right now I have it at 6degs and hass less pinging but can still feel it..its showin a code for the knock sensor but it's brand new,maybe the connector is gone now cause it's alil melted..

the knock sensor is there to tell you that your engine is detonating/pinging so it makes sense if you hear it and the computer is giving you a code saying it sees it. I know 6* btdc is wha is called for but you might want to retard it a few degress and see if it helps, you could also be lean causing the pinging.

That could be vary true but before the timing and all got messed up the car ran fine wit the connector melt alil so really wasn't sure if that was the prob but I have messed wit the connector since then maybe me messin wit it that last time messed it up for good...just waitin on a new one now....
